For this year's Fall Camporee, Troop 221 built two trebuchets measuring 6x8x6 feet and took them to Camp Bethel for a competition in which we took first and second place. We designed and built these machines entirely ourselves and did not use any purchased parts aside from standard lumber and building materials. Our best throw for a medium-sized pumpkin (~5 pounds) was about 250 feet. We also threw a small pumpkin (about one pound) closer to 300 feet. Thanks to the scouts and adults from Troop 221 for making this possible!
