And if it was really at Wrigley, the fans would have thrown the ball back, no? hahaha..

lol, i'd heard of this one, never saw it. just like the description, the sick kid was part of something else in real life, they really went over board glamorizing something that never happened.
the cubs pitcher charlie root confronted babe in later years, told him it never happened, babe told him. "yeah but it made one hell of as story didn't it?"

@DisappearingBoy88 what do you mean? in the description it does say that it is a movie...

Biggest Hollywood embellishment ever. Every second of this scene is complete bullshit.

"If he'd pointed to the bleachers, I would have put one in his ear and knocked him on his ass." -Charlie Root, Cubs pitcher on 10/1/32. Anybody who knows anything about Root knows that Ruth calling the shot was a myth started by sportswriter Joe William's headline the next day, in which he used billiards terminology; RUTH CALLS SHOT AS HE PUTS HOME RUN NO. 2 IN SIDE POCKET. The legend took off from there, fed by fans and Ruth himself.

With all the historical inaccuracies and delusions in this movie, I'm surprised they didn't make it a game-winning home run at Yankee Stadium.

@vincentbutt45 That's not just "some other fat guy". It's the great William Bendix born in New York City
If you've a brain you might watch the movie "Lifeboat" directed by Hitchcock [another fat guy]. They have it right here on youtube.
While this movie is a little over the top , let's not forget the real Babe Ruth saved baseball .
