This video shows how to locate and upgrade / replace the RAM in a Dell notebook. The process is pretty much the same for all Dell Notebooks, especially in the Latitude and Inspiron ranges.

  • I have a question, are the slots called slot 1 and slot 2 for the order that you should replace the chips in if you are to upgrade it? ir is it just called that for reference? thanks.

  • @olsonknight - Its just for reference. You could have some RAM in Slot2 and have Slot1 empty and things will still run fine.

  • @iftibashir - thanks! :) can i have a 2gb ram chip in slot 1 and a 1gb ram chip in slot 2 and still run ok?

  • @olsonknight - Yes you can mix and match fine.

  • If the D620 Comes with 1 GB standart ram it has only 1 slot with 1GB or has the 2 slots with 512 MB on Each?

  • @klitoni1 - It could be either as it depends on the original chosen configuration when the system was built. Best way to check is either via the BIOs, or via opening the bottom panel (the easiest slot to find) and seeing whats there. If the bottom slot is empty that will mean you have a single 1GB stick in slot 1 (the slot under the keyboard).
