If this man was jailed for 27 years and never revenged on his oppressors, he could have been called a hero. Now, this is sad. Mandela can never be greater than this guy. Another forgotten african hero.

I was 10 when he was killed. I remember crying when the news of his assasination filtered in. I still really don't know why i cried, but what i remember was my profound likeness for his military outfits and his youthfulness. As i grew up a little more, i started reading about him, especially his relationship with Blaise. At that point, my likness grew bigger for this great leader who had a lot of vision, but couldn't achieved it due to his straightforwardness, and his defiance to the West.

Thomas Sankara is a true African leader who did not steal from his people like his counterparts all over Africa. Sankara was about development of the whole Africa. Sankara was about true Pan Africanism. We in Nigeria and the whole of Africa need a Thomas Sankara."While you can murder individual revolutionarist, you cannot kill the ideas" - Thomas Sankara (October, 1987). For a lot of us, Thomas Sankara remains a great man. Shame on Blaise Compaore and the other killers of African deveopment.

Sankaras coming.
his fight against the oppression of women stays as an example nowadays. we still have female genital mutilation, forced marriages and a growing sexism that goes beyond any african tribal culture. sankara is an inspiring hero and one of the most interesting political figures of the XX century,

@xflx I recommend reading his speeches in 'women's liberation and the african freedom struggle' by pathfinder press. Absolutely backs up Sankara's commitment to feminism in parallel with the liberation of Africa from neocolonialism.
