CHECK OUT THE LASER CUT!

Using the latest IntraLase laser technology, your corneal flap can be made fast—in only about 15 seconds per eye. Including preparation time, the entire LASIK procedure takes about 10 minutes. Once the entire procedure is completed, the corneal flap created with the IntraLase Method "locks" back into position.

  • I remember getting my LASIK done. That smell is intense, it's kind of like a mix of burning hair and burning skin. The craziest part was after the surgery I was walked to another room to heal for a few minutes, and at first all I could see were really blurry blobs, no shapes, just colors. Then over the course of 5 minutes my eyes started to focus to the point that they were at before the surgery, then kept going until everything was crystal clear! Don't be afraid, it's totally worth it!

  • @destinws2 were you left blind at a point of time during the surgery?

  • Thanks for the vid. Very informative.

For completeness, Van Der Waal's force is not a vacuum force. The easiest way to think about it is the molecules in a fluid acting like magnets. Water is a permanent dipole and behaves this way naturally. Some molecules can form temporary polarization (induced dipole) when the charge of nearby molecules force electrons (or charged atoms in some cases) to the far side.

  • @Protectorr13 No real pain to speak of - they use numbing drops before the procedure. The flap-cutter vacuum seals itself to your eye and it's a bit uncomfortable but that's all. Even post-op the eyes don't really hurt. At most it's like your contacts have been in too long and your eye is a bit raw.

No need to put you out - the whole thing takes no time at all. They will give you a Valium before so you're pretty well relaxed by the time they make your cornea smoke.

  • Just had LASIK done this week - this is a great description of the experience! (Glad I watched it -after- I had the procedure ;-)

  • As soon as you said tie fighter, I got this image of Luke in a x-wing trying to drop a bomb down you're pupil.

  • in fact I hope you know more than george lucus , because if you don't , the dark side has won.

  • Starwars imperial tie fighter.

never let an 8 year old out smart you in starwars trivia.

  • I remember when my stepmother had this done, she had cataracts removed too.

Two weeks later I found her sitting outside one night looking up, and crying. When I asked her what why she was crying, she said, "This is the first time I've seen the stars in 35 years". Then I started crying with her, as we marveled in joy at her renewed sight. Now are house is cleaner than its ever been too.

  • Okay, firstly, I'm a whimp... Did it hurt at all? The Pain-o-meter didn't tell me much.

Secondly, can you be knocked out during the procedure? Again, I'm a whimp. If i know someone is cutting my eye, I'd probably start panicking.

  • EW that is so cool but I didn't know they cut your eyeball across like that... that is so nasty!
