UK Protestors shutt down the Islington based Shell petrol station on the 15th of May 2010 for 5 hours on a sunny Saturday in protest against Shell's involment in the Canadian Tar Sands project.

Crank up the volume and enjoy.......

Party at the Pumps is in solidarity with communities around the world who are resisting Shells destruction of lives and livelihoods, poisoning of lands and waters, and fuelling of climate chaos. In Northern Canada, Shells tar sands projects are ignoring First Nations treaty rights, causing rare forms of cancer and killing wildlife.

This action is jointly called by London Rising Tide/London Tar Sands Network and Climate Camp London.

  • Good music and well filmed! But why is BP's gulf of mexico oil spill clip included in this video about Shell?

  • @kogejen I was torn about the inclusion of this footage , I felt that the oil disaster footage would raise awareness and hopefully connect people into the general issues of oil pollution - hope it was'nt too distracting. Peace Fx

  • @Micahorn: Whatever services they offer to a community are far outweighed by the disasters they provide to the world. It goes beyond just the most recent, though most catastrophic, spill in the Gulf of Mexico. BP, and other oil giants, buy politicians, governments, and as such they don't have to bother with any laws put in place to protect us, animals, or the world. Just check for yourself, don't take my word for it.

  • A great film and an inspiring protest.

Now we need to see similar protests outside Royal Bank of Scotland Branches. It's scandalous that a bank owned by British taxpayers should be funding tar sands.

  • what is the name of the song and artist?

  • How many people in this video protesting have actually been to the shell plant?

Who are you talking about when you say destruction of lives and livelihoods?

Why dont you include the reclamation projects going on? Why dont you include the statistics about how much land is actually disturbed? Why is there no information on the services they provide to a community?

  • Great video: comprehensive coverage of the day's events & some really nice steadicamlike shots. Not to mention speedy postproduction as usual.

  • I am also super curious as to whose version of Beds are Burning this is... It's fantastic!

  • i feel sorry for the owners of the station, they must have lost out on alot of business, they make feck all money from the pumps, shell and the govt get most of it,they survive off people making additional purchases along with their petrol, the owner suffered it would have had no effect on shell
