How do you dispose of the waste solution?

In this particular case when only iron/cobat/nickel/tin/lead are in solution, NaOH (to pH 7) is added to drop oxides and hydroxides.
the solution is seperated from solids and poured down drain (non toxic anymore).
solids that had been collected can be dryed and sold (if large quantities).

The gold powder at the end of this process is actually 'solid' gold.
To turn it into a nich shiny yellow metal the you know, you would have to melt it.
