  • Highly recommend folks upgrade to bear proof food canisters and store them at night at least 50 yards from your campsite. They're over priced, but at least they are also Mountain Lion proof and you no longer need to get food and your trash in a tree (suitable trees are not always available).

    These practices are not just for at night, it's immediately after you've completed your need of food access.
