Prawn Trawler Boats Part 3 - Prep to Trawl & Shooting Away

As the trawlers head out, the gear (nets) are thrown over in preparation before "shooting away".
This Fishing Vessel is using "tri-gear", 3 nets that comb the sandy ocean floor in the hope of bagging a few hundred kilos (double that for lbs :P) of prawn! Those big grates you see getting thrown over are called Turtle Exclusion Devices. This is one way Commercial Fishermen limit bi-catch and avoid trapping turtles, rays and other sea-life in their nets.

guys, simply an excellent example of the hard working men and women out there in the fishing industry. All people should really appreciate just how there seafood comes to there plate. Hi there, the song is "Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner" by Iron Maiden. Awesome song and about 13 minutes long.
