Perhaps the most original form of Dumog that is still existing in Panay. The "dumog" that is commercially circulated today is already adulterated with different forms of MMA style grappling while some is patterned from curriculum-based jiujitsu forms. The techniques employed by original dumog, which like other forms of traditional martial arts, are dependent on experience and personal preference depending on the body mechanics of the subject involved.

The motivation of the practitioner to be involved in dumog is relative to the culture and social realm to where the subject belongs and is not by virtue of harsh influences made by other people.

DinagyangRealty documents this form of martial tradition as part of it's advocacy in the preservation of Panay's cultural treasure.

I also forgot to mention that this would not have been possible without the generous help of CYRIL NONO. He is the authority when it comes to the knowledge of Panay Dumog. Salamat CYRIL (aka cryonlion in FMAforum.org)

  • What I see as a problem amongst us young Pinoys is that we shy away from our own and try to take more time to what we normally see as the more "sosyal" kind of activities.

I find it unusual though that there is a huge following from overseas with FMA.

  • This is valuable information! I've always been looking for Filipino grappling and I never thought that I've been doing that already during stick and empty hand practice. This video is an eye opener to everyone that FMA is indeed complete. It's just sad how it's being marketed abroad that it even causes confusion here in the Philippines. Mabuhay po kayo! San po pwede magtrain po?

  • Hi,

Sorry for the delayed response. I dont know yet if Manong Joe has some formal training outline but he can be a good study subject for traditional dumog.

I'll just check again to confirm. Thanks for a wonderful comment.

  • ... nice video, can you tell us more about the place...baka makabisita kami. Mabuhay

  • Hi!

The place is somewhere in Sta Barbara, Iloilo. I really wish that there would be more interested people like you. It is already a dying art that some people from that place are making fun of the art as being baduy or something.

It is sad that we embrace something foreign over our very own.

  • Thanks for the comment.

  • Thank you for this educational video. Even though it's only very short. I never though we had our own grappling style! I know of stick fighting only. This is an eye openner for me. Is FMA org still available? I thought their mailling list died years ago?

Also are there any schools available outside Philippines in particular Sydney? I am in Sydney... anyway thanks.. from.. kidapawan-online . com

  • oki lang yan at least meron i love FMA......long Live FMA

  • Manong, maganda Mabuhay from Brazil

  • @christophs82 hehehehe

  • @dinagyangrealty thats because if you look at the people following Dumog overseas are those stupid low self esteem nerds that would not be able to identify what would work in a real fight. Us in Philippines know what a real fight is which is why we dont fall for this kind of crap probably was invented while these old cows are drunk on coconut extract alcohol. We follow western boxing coz that works on our streets

  • Nice! Here is also some authentic unique Dumog.
