Beginning with this hit in September of 1964, the Teddy Randazzo Era began for Little Anthony & The Imperials. "I"m On the Outside Looking In", composed by Randazzo, a childhood friend of the group, was the first in a series of rock ballads he would write for Little Anthony & The Imperials which would include "Going Out Of My Head", "Hurt So Bad" and several others.

I just looked these guys up on Wikipedia, and ALL of them are still living!! That's amazing because most groups from the 50s, 60s, 70s and even the 80s have lost some members along the way. Great classic tune from these dudes lol!!

They're not only all still living, all but one of the originals are still performing and recording. NEW MATERIAL! And it sounds great. I just did an hour-long interview with Little Anthony for a magazine article and the secret to his longevity is changing with the times; adapting to new styles and tastes but not compromising his talent and ability. Refusing to be just a nostalgia act. Being open to other genres and GROWING. He loves country/western and opera. Read his book when it comes out.

I felt that during a period in high school, as if I were on the outside looking in. Actually I was. I was considered 'ugly' and not too sharply dressed so I had to take the back seat to my sister. She was really gorgeous. I loved her and looked up to her but high school can be so cruel And then one day the guys started noticing and some of the girls stopped comparing us. This song reflected me. On the good side, I had a bunch of friends who accepted me.........I still love the song. Peace.
