@Waterdruide Thank you for your thoughtful response!
I also read your reply to my comment at the "Mercury" video.
Both of them are great responses and get me thinking as well.
What you are talking about in vessels is an influential relationship which doesn't so much change a note's inherent shape IMO. When you create *interference patterns* because of a vessel's standing wave and size resonance characteristics, you are *altering* the inherent form (ie, Oscillator+Transducer+Air).

just any random speaker?

Same thing can be seen on the north pole of saturn ...
Just wondering...what frequency were you using ?
As in seems to be the same pattern as, you guest it....saturns resonant frequency.

Yes, any speaker can do: heavy or small, in combination with an amplifier, PC-speaker with amplifier and software- function-generator.

In cymatics it is not the absolut frequency alone that generate the pattern: it depends also on the amplitude, the form and diameter of the vessel, the viscosity of the fluid, its temperature, end so on. Other parameters exept the frequenty should generate chaos, until you find the appropriate amplitude.
The concentric circles on Saturnus North Pole can also been caused by upwelling fluid. Eventualy also the hexagon.
To know if it is a cymatic phenomen, one should see what happens further.

@Waterdruide<-- You are wrong.
Schlieren photography shows that Cymatics patterns have nothing to do with (form & diameter of vessel, fluid etc...) because they can be produced in any medium and with NO fluid vessel.
Sound waves moving through air create a pressure wave. The image of each note will be the *same shape*, regardless of air temp, room size altitude etc..
Obviously volume will effect how pronounced it is, but it doesn't change shape with volume either.
It's inherent relationships.

@crusso777 Interesting what you wrote. Thought about it, and indeed schlieren photography shows that Cymatic patterns can be produced in any medium and without a vessel.
But when you produce them in a vessel, you get other regular patterns. When I turn down the volume, and then turn it up again to the same hight, sometimes I get other patterns. Sometimes you can see the water doubting between 5- or 7 dividing ...
Hans Jenny used also a square vessel, and produced square-like patterns.
