Hearst built his outdoor swimming pool to resemble the Roman baths. The white sculpture at one end of the pool was a version of the Birth of Venus. I would've LOVED to have been a starlet in the 1920's and given a chance to stay at the cottage and swim in his pools! The OTHER swimming pool is an indoor swimming pool located beneath the tennis courts! Exquisite tiles on the bottom of that pool. Hearst really had the guests' comfort in mind.
