Ya I so wish I could correct them when they say that. their producer prolly tells them to comment the roof flaps when anything that has to do with them happens. Its so rediculous anymore how much they say they work. Sometimes they do, but anybody who knows about roof flaps can tell in a particular accident if they worked or not, and at 4:00...If those roof flaps worked then I"m in the wrong business.
I hate when commentators say "roof flaps did their job there." The roof flaps did not do their job here, or the car would never have gotten off the ground to begin with. Furthermore the reason the car came back down on all 4's is because the car spun completely around without being tilted into a bad angle. When the car gets going the right way again, that lift becomes down force. Roof flaps failed completely here... but still without them, we'd have 10 times the "blowovers"
actually it was two wrecks at the end of races at Daytona in 2001 Speedweeks...Joe was OK in his wreck but Dale Earnhardt was not so lucky. If only the 2001 Daytona 500 ended this way...under caution.
Some Busch teams used Pontiacs at the restrictor plate tracks because they were better aerodynamically than the Chevies.
