Slap Shot - Reggie vs. The Owner

Paul Newman is Reggie Dunlop, the player-coach of a minor league hockey team called the "Charlestown Chiefs." Here he meets the owner for the first time. He has been charming and polite, until she tells him that she COULD sell the team, but won't make enough of a profit for it to be worthwhile. Instead, she will fold the team, and Reggie and the other players will be jobless. When this scene starts, she has just told Reggie that she has never let her children watch a hockey game because she doesn't want them to imitate the violence.

They don't make movies like this anymore unfortunately. This movie came out 7 years before I was born and it's still probably my favorite comedy ever. Paul Newman was amazing. He said this was his favorite one of his movies, and that before this came out he didn't often curse but after filming his language was right out of a locker room.

That's without a doubt one of the most priceless, hysterical, offensive, brilliant, satisfying, irreverent, and memorable lines I've ever heard in any film. If that line had been open to any memeber of the cast to say I would've paid 10% of my salary just to say it. That comment would never see the light of day in today's movie world.
