Fox Royal - The Austin Sessions Online Exclusive

So, after months of anticipation, at least on my part, the Austin Sessions was reborn on a gloomy Saturday morning. the crew and friends met the excited Fox Royal in the parking lot of a certain mediocre seafood restaurant, and a brief hike later were setting up for the first session in almost a year.
The E. Riverside bridge hugged closely to the creek we had chosen, creating a surprisingly beautiful mix of the natural and the urbane. The cavernous acoustics of the site proved perfect for capturing Fox Royal's sound, giving their soulful rock a deep and folksy flavor.
The sessions lovely ambience was rounded out with an impossibly confused homeless man whom Fox Royal so rudely awoke with their dulcet tunes.
All-in-all the session went swimmingly, that being said I have to admit it was one of the more nerve-racking experiences of my life. For someone who's only real music related credentials are, um, listening to it, I felt somewhat in over my head. I've barely ever operated a camera much less said anything more than "I really like your stuff" to a band, what the hell was I doing directing a music show!? Luckily, I was surrounded by a team of more-than-capable volunteers including the camerawoman Erin Boyle and the man without whom none of this would be possible, the Jedi master Will Patterson. Thanks to them, the friends and volunteers who came out in support, and of course the very talented yet down-to-earth Fox Royal, any doubts or insecurities I may have had were quickly and completely alleviated.
I don't think we could have asked for a better way to usher in Austin Sessions' the third series. With one session under our belt and our confidence building exponentially I'm certain this is but the first of many fantastic sessions to come.
