  • @mtgPirate 'Cause they're too controversial. They speak out about things people want to deny or don't want to hear therefore the mainstream won't give them the exposure they deserve.

  • search ''Rise Against-generation lost-how we survive part 3'' at 5:18 tim sings another verse of the song, and it is EPIC!!!

  • who was the gaugh that said stop?

  • @666nothingleft you can't learn how to sing like a god, you can only be gifted

  • You gotta get a scratchy voice but do it in a way it won't hurt your throat. I suggest holding your breath for thirty seconds, take a deep breath, then sing

  • can any1 give me any tips on how to sing like the god of PUNK ROCK?

  • O======beware of limbo dancers======O

  • I could listen to Tim sing Jon Bon Jovi songs all day.

  • goin down in a blaze of glory, but i dont think RA is going down, its going up!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • On the other hand, you may think the opposite: non-native speakers may like "heavy" music better than native speakers because they're having difficulty understanding lyrics anyway, so it's doesn't really matter.

    IMHO people will always try to assimilate their peers, which may be an explanation why certain music is much more mainstream.

    I'm just throwing stuff out there, don't mean to offend anyone in any way.

  • @Klatjofsky I agree to this may be a reasonable explanation: most people care less about lyrics than about the music. And to implement my own hypothesis: for non-native speakers, "heavy" music (i.e. with non-clean vocals, fast tempo,...) may be less accessible than it is to native speakers, because it's harder for them to understand the lyrics, if they do actually listen to them.

  • @coralradpants There's a pretty big problem with your argument though. If taste in music is completely subjective, it doesn't explain why one type of music is doing much better than another type. As far as the controversiality issue goes, you also have widely popular bands like SOAD or much more mainstream artists like Billy Joel or Elton John. I may go too far here, but I dare say the mainstream doesn't even care about the lyrics (Bad Romance, anyone?).
