  • The Landstrider in the film was a man in a suit on stilts and crutches. Strong enough to carry a small person able to run and fight. It worked brilliantly without the use of CGI. Yes there's a place for CGI. But Don't let Animatronics Die. Or the Magic will be lost too. Green Screen is a soulless way to make a movie

  • this was made using a video game's creature creator tool. it was an exercise in using a free-form video game tool to re-create a recognizable creature. It is in no way intended to "replace" the classic, in fact, it's more to pay homage to it.

  • Danm thats good, I hated the part when they died :(

  • me too, such cool creatures. fighters to the bitter end!

  • Spectacular! You got the face exactly right. I can has creature data?

  • I used the "share" feature so technically it should be available to all... though I am skeptical. if you can't find it gimme your e-mail in a PM and ill e-mail it to u or something.

    glad you like it!

  • The landstrider was indeed a stuntman(men) with crutches and stilts. They practised for days befre the shoot & wore a safety cable in case they fell. For the external running scene, the cable was fixed to a massive tower crane with a huge extended jib overhead, whilst a citroen CV with it's roof cut off, was used as a tracking vehicle.

Basic, but clever stuff in those days before CGI

  • The Landstrider has never been more flexible! lol

  • @Steamrollergirl71 completely agree

  • nice work!

you did a really good job on the face and whiskers. I have the spore game (I'm sure a lot of people do) It's really handy for creations like this. You've done an amazing job, and for that, I congratulate you!

  • Nice! Now for an even greater challenge... can you create one of the characters riding it's back???? Great work!

  • Great job! Very close to the movie.

  • AWESOME!

  • I imagine you're right about the options, good eye about the ears though. Excellent craftmanship.
