A visit to see the Sandy Heath Transmitter and the old sand quarry. I have included the clip where I was surprised by the world's friendliest dog and where I got my hair caught up in the brambles. February 2011. During March and April 2011 the analogue tv signals for Cambridgeshire are being turned off and replaced by digital tv signals.

  • We went digital a couple of years ago, and since we only have antenna tv we had to buy a converter box. The good news is now a lot of the local stations have more than one channel they can broadcast from - we went from 8 channels to about 20. And we also get free movie and music channels ; )

What a lovely countryside! So lush and green!

  • @JTlovesDexter Its pretty much the same situation here. Its strange how the world can sometimes be so different and at other times so similar. I have found videos about changing over from the US and other parts of europe. It hadn't occured to me it was happening all over.

  • What a waste of the transmitter sad to see anloge is gone why cant they just leave it on why should anyone pay for tv liceince for if no anloge i heard the radio will be doing the same so all are classic vintage radios will be useless and make more rubbsh now.

  • To be honest the shot want worth the effort... Keep your hair next time

  • I prefer analogue - not a fan of the digital 'cliff edge' effect

  • Beautiful. The transmitter that pretty much entertained my entire childhood.

  • Great vid, i have been following the progress of the digital tv switchover since 2007 and here we are just two days before the end of BBC2 analogue tv transmission at Sandy Heath transmitter and then the rest of the analogue tv channels will be gone on 13th of April as digital switchover goes into it final stage, i lived just 15 miles from the transmitter. Looking forward to improve signal and more channels.
