Yes, yes, yes! About 100 years ago, G.K. Chesterton said "'Do not look at the faces in the illustrated papers. Look at the faces in the street." This is where our genuine humanity and sanity comes from. Most immediately from the family, and then the larger community in expanding circles. Great, great question. I also very much appreciate Laurie Anderson's music and performance art.

One of the smartest women alive

There is only one 'group' worth being in - the Church, all other groups are fading away,
and only One Person - the LORD Jesus Christ that one can talk to,
and have forgiveness for sins forever and ever.

On par with, or perhaps even transcends the likes of Yoko Ono and other subterranean icons....

Laurie, always love seeing and hearing you when you come to North Carolina. Thanks so much for your words and art.

There's never been a middle area, since there was always something to replace the media example, such as one's village status quo, or one's job culture, etc. Anywhere/anything(s) that one gets one's social influences from has that dichotomy effect. And there are always people who are the exceptions, and who can exist in a middle area no matter what medium the group comes in though.
I'm suffering a lack of better explanation words but that's maybe cuz language is a virus. (I love that song!) :)

She makes a great point about the "middle distance". Definite food for thought.
I've seen her twice in concert, once for the Strange Angels tour, and the show was brillant. Laurie's performances are always full of social commentary, some artistic or funny, and some including facts of the most important issues of our times.
what is this clip from? is there a series of other questions posed by artists/others? can I find other clips like this on the web?
