In January 2009, we went back to Bazou, Cameroon, and visited the school that I attended as a child. When we were there, the school's roof was missing on about 30% of the buildings. We promised the children of the school that we would help them to improve their school by raising money in Canada. Late in 2009, we heard the good news that the school and the community were successful in raising their own funds to repair the roof! Our plan for this year, 2010, is to raise funds to help the school build two new latrines (one for girls, one for boys). Our fundraiser will be on May 7, 2010, in Toronto at the Gladstone Hotel (1214 Queen St. W). The latrines at the school right now are not safe and falling down. To learn more about our fundraising efforts, to contribute, or for an update on our progress, please get in touch with us at nbacko1121@rogers.com. Thank you, Njacko Backo & Valery Woloshyn

  • Oh Bazou mon village. Merci pour ceux qui l'ont poste.

  • Thanks very much for posting this. Bazou is my grandparents' village and although I have never personally been there I still have many relations there. Recently, I had a piece of land given to me by the chief who is a close friend of my uncle. I now live in England and would very much like to get involved with project to help develop Bazou. I shall be emailing you to find out how I can help contribute to the development of my fatherland.

    Many thanks for posting this.
