This clip demonstrates how to fabricate Electronic Voice Phenomena through modulated ultrasound, without manipulating the recorder or the recorded sound files. It is shown how to prepare an inaudible ultrasound sample and then record that sample with digital and tape recorders, making it audible again. The approach presented here is based on digital aliasing and nonlinear distortion.

  • Thanks. I guess that radio transmissions can be in this range also? That may explain EVPs that are not faked, but misinterpreted. I've heard very very few EVPs that clearly say anything (without suggestion). I suppose the ones that are clear are fakes.

  • @boardskins Yes, recorders can pick up radio signals. While this is not so likely with new models since they are shielded against that, some old digital recorders are improperly shielded and pick up all sorts of signals, from amateur radio to taxi communications. "Coincidentally", those recorders are the ones most popular among EVP artists.

  • Hello, what software are you using please? I have Goldwave but can't find those functions.

  • @mikesndbs FL Studio mostly. And Synthedit for making the modulation plugin.

  • This is a good video, the only problem is that the final product does not sound like a genuine EVP to me.

Could people be fooled by this? Absolutely

But anyone who knows their EVP's would be able to pick this out in a second IMO.

  • Since you can use any sound sample, you can easily make it sound more spooky, breathy or whatever you think a "genuine EVP" sounds like.

  • @boardskins I have collected numerous "very clear" EVP that are not fake. I realize leaving the question open is philosophically uncomfortable but, no, not all EVP are so easily dismissed. I don't care one way or the other, so I'm happy to leave the question open.

  • @boardskins there can be errors and parts of radiowaves, static noise that inflict in the audioable range at some level, but radiowaves are at mhz level and were talking 20Khz beeing the limit of whats audiable, so it shouldnt be noticed. at least in scandinavia standard radio is about 80-108MHz..

  • @verklagekasper true I had a cb radio with a 2000w amplifier connected and my mother could hear me keying up through the toilet and make florescent tubes light not connected to nothing so it don't have to be electronic either .

  • I am agnostic on the subject of EVP's: I neither immediately credit them to supernatural agencies nor dismiss them entirely out of hand. However, I think videos like this are absolutely essential for interjecting some common sense into the discussion of precisely what they are. This was informative and very well done.

  • It isn't the explanation ... I'm sorry for you... ;)
