United Nations, New York, 26 January 2010 - Thousands of Haitians are working for the United Nation Development Programmes (UNDP) cash-for-work programme to sustain the local economy and clean up the streets of Port-au-Prince following the earthquake that devastated this tiny island nation.
Haitians are paid a legal minimum wage of (USD) $3.00 or 150 gourdes for half a days labor. Local factory workers are paid that same rate for a full days work.
