North of the Polar Circle a British Airways Boeing 747-400 flies over the snowcovered mountains, rivers and icefields in the North of Iceland on the Trans Polar Route on April 21th 2009.
The Trans polar Route was established in 1954 by Scandinavian Airlines System to connec Europe with Los Angeles via Iceland, Greenland,Baffin Bay , Baffin Island,Nunavut, Nothwest Territories down over Canada (Alberta) approaching LA from the North East. This is the shortest route between LA and Europe.Too bad many people flying today don't enjoy the great views nor do they realize they are above the Polar Circle flying the historic Trans Polar Route.Decandence kicking in I suppose, it's still a privilege to fly, some 75% of all people worldwide will never fly.
