  • In my opinion Steve Lacy is The Monk -interpreter, the one who has the deepest comprehension of how to get the juice out of monks rhythms, harmonies and melodies but although I don´t think Braxton quite reaches the standard set by Lacy, Potts and their band, this works very very nicely...Braxton might no bet at his best "swingin´" but rather on more "european" (no anyone, don´t get mad!) setting. Thanks for sharing tihs gem.

  • Too much Braxton technique is on display here, just for the sake of it . I like the piece "Reflections" on this album but this one has 8th notes played like a machine, the rhythm section are fine tho'.

  • I use to go to watch Anthony Braxton with Sharon Freidman in the 70's in Chicago. It was critical Mass 3rd stream jazz. A blast to watch such brilliant musicians!
