It has been called "one of the most beautiful ferry rides in the world".

Interislander is the New Zealand ferry service which crosses the Cook Strait between the North and South Islands of New Zealand. The 92 km, three hour journey between Wellington and Picton is one of New Zealand's most iconic tourist experiences, and one of the most spectacular cruises in the world.

Three different ships operated by Interislander carry both passengers and their vehicles between the islands. These three ships, named the Arahura, Aratere, and Kaitaki offer a safe, comfortable and affordable journey. There are a wide variety onboard services. With up to 11 sailings a day, passengers can travel almost any time of day they want. During the trip across the Cook Straight passengers will see Wellington, Pencarrow Head, Marlborough Sounds, Tory Channel, Queen Charlotte Sound, and Picton.

  • How could Jim just throw the water bottle into the water! It's incredible painful to see these kind of activities in scenic places like NZ.
