So yeah, I get the call the day before to shoot this clip in Atlantic City...and I'm way down in Atlanta. No last minute flights so, me, my DP Tommy Burns, and Kym Moye fly into Philly, meet up with my good friend Lajoyce Thom and her friend coming from NY to meet us. We drive up the rest of the way.

On like 3 hours of sleep, the next morning we attack the day as such - everyone, including the artist, is speeding from NY to get to the set the day of shooting. We filmed establishing shots because it was noon before anyone arrived.

First up, Guru. We banged most of his shots in an hour...and just before we're set to work with the ladies on the beach, my producing partner, Kym Moye, gets injured. Beast took over AD duties while Kym was away getting stitched up at the local emergency room.

Meanwhile, with the bikini shots in the can, we immediately followed with quick shots of Nice & Smooth under/along the boardwalk. We captured various cameos from additional entourage members: Big Shug, and Group Home's Lil' Dap + Melachi the Nutcracker.

DJ Red Alert and Kid Capri, the legends that they are, were an incredible pair to work with - I later directed these guys in a SPRITE ad featuring a battle between KRS ONE vs. MC SHAN (http://youtu.be/GgZCuYqZwA0).

We ended the day with a shot of DJ Premiere scoring music from the boardwalk with the 1's & 2's. We made easy shooting of the whole day with an unprecedented total of about 6 hours.

All in all, it was an incredible pleasure making this one happen - CIAO to everyone who lent their sweat and tears!!

  • It's so crazy to think...I was invited to this video shoot by a guy named Selwyn Brye, who knew Nice & Smooth! I didn't have transportation out to A.C. so I never went...If I had, I would have bumped heads with my childhood friend! Thanx, FUTURE! This is a part of classic hip-hop...the stories behind the video give them even more substance! I'm so proud to now this was your product!

  • Thank you brother...and I mean that!!

Would've been completely sick to see you there, and obviously the universe was giving it a shot - but we back now!!

Stay tuned to the channel, and spread the word!!!

  • Future, you are even more the man. Didn't know you did this one but your stylistic stamp is all over this.

The story behind it was great too!

  • Thanks a ton!!

Glad you've been checking in...there's more to add, so stay tuned!

  • RIP GURU Gangstarr is the sure shot, Nice & Smooth is the sure shot.

Lemonade was a popular drink & it still is!

  • RIP Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal

  • Damn son, you went deep. On some Barney Miller tip, much respect.

Yes master, I will try harder to snatch the pebble next time...

  • Pirate7X "Handle it Roy " is a quote from the old 70's TV hit called Carter Country. Good try grasshopper....

  • I believe Greg was quoting Jimmy Castor's soul classic & break "He...He...Hey Leroy!"
