did you have the head ported when you made this video? or a cam?
-
I was needing some advice
-
@Krollup77 yeah, it's hard on the bearings/bushings and can potentially snap a shaft. an aftermarket turbo from HTT or whomever usually wont break though. but an HX40 is likely to break from barking.. depends on the model. just learn to let off the throttle in 1 second rather than a split second and you should be ok.
-
Is turbo bark bad for the turbo in any way? Or is it just a way to explain the sound it makes? Cuz I'm hopefully getting a super phatshaft (62/71/14) with FBD 150hp injectors to spool her up.
-
What size injectors do you have? Any problems with egts? Do you tow with it?
-
Nice! Post up some more in cab videos. Do you belong to cumminsforum?

no, cummins724 is right..he barked the turbo (also called "huffing" turbo). when you pull out the silencer ring, it makes the compressor (intake) louder. the wastegate is on the exhaust side and has nothing to do with turbo bark.
sounds really good :) gotta love the cummins (p.s. have you dyno tested it? Does it make usable power up to 4k rpm like the other video?)

Thanks. My dyno sheets from the last 2 years can be viewed on my photobucket [cummins724] My truck carries over 500hp at 4k now, but my old dyno sheets only show 450ish at 4k rpm.

Yep, I'm a member. [Cummins724] I now have a 64/71/14 turbo though. Check out my vids on photobucket

I let off the fuel too fast & barked the turbo.

You got that right.

I haven't run a 64/71, but from what I've been told, they spool around 2000rpm.
