this is pretty much the holy grail of my musical life: my 2nd favorite musician covering my favorite. i just wish it wasn't under such unfortunate circumstances.

in some people's poor, unfortunate minds, some things are "ruined" merely by anyone's attempt at a song other than the original artist's performance on the original recording. god forbid a song live on, i guess. this cover is just fine.

@heyjude97 they werent good friends. anyway elliott is my favorite artist and also a big fan of beck but i simply think he could have picked an easier song or did a better job to learn this one. Its the wrong tuning. He muffs the lyrics. Its just not good musically. Its cool he likes this song enough to choose it i gues

@8888111188887777 well, his best friend JUST died, then. anyone else would still be in tears.

Why all the hate for this cover? It's not bad at all. Beck's put his own stamp on it. (voice-wise anyway)

i think you all are trippin u try and cover that song and see how good it sounds his voice is his own he didnt do horrible i liked it

He also ruined Pink Moon.

Love the magazine's cover. "The two best American songwriters of today?"
Great find, thanks for uploading.

maybe i'm wrong, but i heard this cover was performed the first show by beck after elliott's dead (probably a couple of nights after it happened). it was a tribute, which is why it is special. and i like it.
