Transforming to Universal Love in death

A series of simulated surgeries conducted by Tzu Chi University's Medical School began last Thursday, with the four-day program ended earlier on Sunday. Among the eight silent mentors that donated their bodies to Medical Science was Luo-Zhang Fen. This compassionate woman was diagnosed with cancer three years ago, and passed away earlier this year. Her life partner, Luo Wenzheng,had been by her side for 30 years, and though the two have children together they were never formally married. Dalin Tzu Chi General Hospital volunteers arranged a wedding for them, and though death has torn the loving couple apart, Luo-Zhang Fen continues to share their love, by giving her very body - altruistically, to commemorate the Universal Love.

Wiping off his tears, Luo Wenzheng sees his wife for the very last time. Silent mentor Luo-Zhang Fen was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago. The visits to and from the hospital tormented her so much that the compassionate woman decided try and help others who suffer similarly by donating her body to Medical Science.

Silent mentor Luo-Zhang Fen's husband, Luo Wenzheng:"Though medical science advances quickly, still many people cannot be saved. There're dead ends and barriers that medical science simply can't break."

Loving couple donates both their bodies

Luo-Zhang Fen was positively influenced by her husband, who signed the consent form to become a body donor years ago.

Silent mentor Luo-Zhang Fen's husband, Luo Wenzheng:"After I applied for it, this card was sent to me. My wife saw it, she said she wants to sign it, too. She said with this kind of illness, she doesn't know when she would die; she wanted to fulfill this wish. "

A wedding in the hospital

Some 30 years ago, Luo-Zhang Fen bore her partner's children. The family lived together, but the two were never married - it was not until when the breast cancer patient began her treatment in Dalin Tzu Chi General Hospital that the volunteers helped them formally wed -- in the hospital.

A love story with even greater love
