Coffee Prices Going Up? Bean Prices Rise, May be Passed On

VICTORIA -- People working in downtown Victoria were given free cups of coffee from 30 local cafes in the city's core.
The Downtown Victoria Business Association says the third annual 'Wake Up Victoria' event is a way for local businesses to thank their loyal customers. And it couldn't have come at a better time.
The cost of coffee beans is rising on the world market, and that means the extra cost could be passed on to the customer.
Local café owners say they'll try not to let it affect their pricing, but an increase of up to five cents a cup could be coming.
Yesterday coffee giant Starbucks said its prices will be increasing.
