In November 2007, a wake was held at the apartment opposite us. For 3 days, the door to the building was propped open with a light placed above it. Wicker stands of flowers with messages written on ribbons were placed infront of the entrance. Then after 3 days, the flowers were cleared away and the mourners processed out ...

  • because here in the philippines no one uses firecrakers in chineese funeral srvices but sometimes filipino we do it 2...but only a few times, what i really wanted 2 hapen is i'd lyk this tradition 2 hapen here in our chineese community...I wish some Filipino Chinese will see and wach on you tube.

    As its purpose was originally to drive evil spirits away, it was also used in funerals. However, over time, the use of firecrackers evolved to take on a more positive connotation. Thus they came to be used to commemorate joyous events such as wedding processions and rituals during festivals and auspicious occasions.
