Randy Duane Couture (pronounced /koʊˈtʊər/; born June 22, 1963) is an American mixed martial artist, Greco-Roman wrestler, actor, a three-time former heavyweight champion and a two-time light-heavyweight champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Couture is one of only two UFC fighters to have held a championship title in two different divisions (heavyweight and light heavyweight; B.J. Penn, with his titles at welterweight and lightweight, is the other) in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, as well as the only five-time champion in UFC history. Couture has competed in 15 title fights, a record. Couture is a member of the UFC Hall of Fame and many consider him to be the most popular fighter in MMA history.
Couture was an Olympic wrestling alternate, and has lived in Corvallis, Oregon throughout much of his career, where he served as an assistant wrestling coach and a strength and conditioning coach for Oregon State University. He established Team Quest with Matt Lindland and Dan Henderson, a training camp for fighters, based out of Gresham, Oregon, and headed by coach Robert Folis. In 2005 Couture moved to Las Vegas, where he opened his own extensive chain of gyms under the name Xtreme Couture. He currently trains at his Las Vegas-based gym. Couture also partnered with Bas Rutten in the opening of Legends Gym in Hollywood, California.
Couture is generally recognized as a clinch and ground-and-pound fighter who uses his wrestling ability to execute take downs, establish top position and successively strike the opponent on the bottom. Couture has also displayed a variety of skills in Boxing, Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu; submitting three opponents using different chokeholds. Couture is the only athlete in UFC history to win a championship after becoming a Hall of Fame member and is the oldest title holder ever (in the UFC and MMA). Along with Chuck Liddell, Couture is widely credited for bringing mixed martial arts into the mainstream of American pop culture and sports.

@yet Youre right, I am a boxing fan and its obvious to me using alil intelligence and what ive actually seen on yt that boxers are the most handicapped of all the fighters in mma.Boxers can only fight on their feet [i am generalising], they have no instinct on the ground, of course they can win with their fists but no-one is gonna box a boxer.....a couple of years ground training and youth are the minimum requirements b4 a boxer should even attempt mma!!

@trukk08 so you understand that boxing is an inferior form of fighting? this isn't about what is more entertaining but what is more effective! and by the way everybody I fought was bigger and stronger than me so knowing how to move my body and negating that was a skill that most boxers don't have. if you sit on my chest but don't know how to balance I will throw you off! it is a learned response or as we call it SKILL! leverage is more important than gravity in a fight! study physics my freind!

@leaderOFlosers I was just hoping Toney could represent boxing in a good way. In reality, Toney wanted a check at any cost. He ain't repping nobody but himself. He should never step in the octagon against anybody, ever in life again--Even if the world thinks he might win. Peace!

@luilun Toney looked like he didn't take it serious and came in looking like a slob. Still even if he was in shape the same thing would have happened.

@trukk08 You obviously didn't watch the fight. Just because Silva didn't have blood doesn't mean that he didn't get hurt or dominated the whole fight. In case you didn't know some people are prone to cuts and some people aren't. Look at Chris Leben, you hit him he bleeds. Other guys, like Silva don't bleed as easily. Just because you watched highlights, the interview session and you saw Silva without blood doesn't mean that he didn't get dominated. The first real test, look what happened.

@trukk08 thats what wrestlers do, thats how they win....if Silva should have done more takedown defense

@trukk08 Couture is a legend dude like it or not. being competitive at 47 that says something. He beat, Vitor Belfort, Gonzaga at HW, Tim Sylvia at HW the time was no push over and that was ,
Chuck liddell and Tito were in their prime.
Had he not been involved with the movies at the time, he would have given lesanr a run for his money. He was controlling the fight till he got clocked.
