here is a crude model of a star wars fighter ship. Im not sure of its technical name. I know its not a Tie, y-wing, or x-wing, or b-wing. So not knowing what it is, I can still show you how to crudely build it n Modo. Original Model by Kurt Boutilier.

  • hey i started with Modo 2 days ago, you have some great tutorials :) I already know 3ds Max and lightwave and Modo has all the good things of both so its not to hard to understand for me... still i have a question

when I use a tool (transform, rotate) I always need to click in the window before tool gets activated... you dont seem to have that problem could you help with that?

And for (5:08, 7:57 and 8:20) use Pen Slice, it doesnt have short key found under "Mesh Edit" it slices all the way..

  • pen slice is good but not as accurate. i didnt want to have to join points.

  • ah ok, what about normal slice (Shift+C)(just found that) with "Right Angle Snap" and "Geometry Snap" (Layers: Both/Foreground) that will snap so not split the vertex and is 100% flat so no need to scale... but thats not really my concern...

Have you read about my problem (activating the tools) is that normal or can it be adjusted?

    Thx :)

  • trust me, i tried all kinds of ways and the way inthe vid is the best control. Clicking in the window activates the tool. You have to do it. Unless you use hte keyboard. r for scale, w for move, and e for rotate. Clicking in the viewport to activate tools is very good and the more you do it the more youll see why. same as hitting space to drop a tool. I do wish it had a lock so you couldnt drop your tool by mistake. in max after grabbing a tool you can lock it so clicking dont drop the tool.

  • @12SPASTIC12 He stated he didn't know what it was called. And if everyone followed your philosophy of "if I don't know what it's called, I'm not going to bother with it", then the world would still be in the stone age. You didn't have to be so rude with your correction. Look at how I corrected him. That's the correct way to go about this.

  • The actual name of the ship is Eta-2 Actis-class Light Interceptor.

  • its not a f******g landspeeder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its a jedi interceptor. Why don't you draw something you know about, like a big white box. Im very sorry my friend but you really irritate me with your endless videos praising mac

  • have you got this in a HD version, maybe 720? that would be awesome if you do

  • Thanks for the tutorial. I have a question? Could you just draw one big polygon over the wing area and then just put loop slices at all the corners? Wouldn't that make for a cleaner lower polygon count? I don't model much so just asking.

  • you from texas?

  • blueprints?

  • So, where can i find a blueprint like this?

Other than that, the tut looks good.

  • Jedi Star fighter. Can't wait to see it done. Keep 'em coming Eric.
