the tunes are:
maggie in the woods
sword of st columba
memories of ballymote (aka church street)

Irish/Scottish ceili music are very intertwined and similar, and sadly, it is becoming rarer to see these type of gatherings, even this one is some years old. And yes, Tony is right, a lot of the culture and music found today in newfoundland is from the Irish immigrants who arrived there.

nice to someone else playing a continental chromatic accordion for british folk!

They all look miserable, I know Ireland in those days was not rich, but surely they were rich in spirit.
Now, in 2010 they have lost everything, so I guess they have a lot to be miserable about.

That music is so beautiful, thank you.

@mattfido1 The Gallowglass have a website where you can hear a shortened version of Nas Na Ri, they do a featured track every week or so and you never know if Nas Na Ri is put up you could maybe down load it.

@1234549084 Yeah great band before my time unfortunately. Their line up as a band seems to be typically more Scottish in my opinion than Irish with the piano accordion taking centre instrument rather than a button box.
