"Could they be the final phase in the evolution of the combat aircraft?" - there is no such thing as a final phase. This comment denies the idea that the environment in which defense systems are employed will never change and the weapon systems of the enemy will never evolve. Not to mention the comment has underlying tones of denying nature itself which is to evolve to survive in changing environmental conditions. But I'm sure the person who wrote that didn't know what they were implying. =(
