Well-respected? Murphy can't even get published in real econ journals and can't get a decent academic position. In fact, reading his blog, Free Advice, it's obvious he can't even interpret simple graphs. He's a total fool, but you're even worse, because you follow him.

@8chxBLhJDy9 ironically, the idea that ultimately, "we don't need government for anything" is also the essential tenet of communism. marx thought that eventually, at the end of the class struggle we'd achieve an end of history utopian state where government would no longer be needed because society and the innate goodness of the proletariat would be magically self-regulating. kinda seems like libertarians hate communists because they're so much alike.

Robert Murphy, a well-respected economist who has a PhD, totally disagrees with Krugman's take on the economy. He has repeatedly challenged Krugman to a public debate and has even gained tens of thousands of dollars worth of donation pledges that will be donated to food banks in needy areas if Krugman accepts the challenge. Krugman still refuses to face Murphy in debate.

@LiberaLib It is not possible to privatize the police because in a free market people can choose not to use a service or buy a product. But the police use's brutal force to make poeple do stuff they don't want to. Im not against a government who protect me against people who want to hurt me. Libraries and roads on the other hand... Private industries can make mechanical/artificial hearts, we don't need the government to create libraries and roads.
