  • Yay I won!

  • Congrats! :) Someone from Next New Networks will be contacting you shortly about how to get you the free passes you won!

  • Grace, I long for the days when you were much more assertive in you social statements, as you were concerning the racist casting of the movie 21, in which Hollywood replaced filled what should have been Asian-American roles with white lead actors. You mention a small character in Up, saying it's good that they had a postiive female role, but you, like other critics don't mention that Up has a main Asian-American character, a rarity in Hollywood. Just see the racist casting for Last Airbender.

  • Hmm, I'm sorry you think I wasn't hard enough on Hollywood here but I was talking about diversity in general, not Asian-Americans specifically. However, have you seen Up? Russell is a major character, and quite beloved by audiences! And John Cho does a nice job in Star Trek this month as well. As for The Last Airbender, from what I've seen it has a very diverse cast - although I know people are upset about Jackson Rathbone in the lead role...

  • (cont.) The people behind Last Airbender explicitly made a call for Caucasian actors, as they wanted white leads, to play good guys, and that's what they got. They only got Dev Patel after much uproar about the whitewashed casting, and Patel, is playing a bad guy, of course. They've also got other "brown" people, but they're playing bad guys, and the token Asians they got are mostly background "color." Rathbone said he'll have to get a tan to play Asian. Maybe he'll play a black role next time.

  • Wow - that sounds pretty awful... :(
