    My favorite episode. I'm former USAF, 71st TCS. Given that Mr Durning served in combat makes this a stronger piece for me. I liked the toast between soldiers at the end (of the full episode). The Japanese lost the war but the 2 soldiers toasted one another.

    Thank you for this dragonsoda, this is one of NCIS BEST, It brings tears to my eyes. It must have been hard for Mr. Durning to do this show he was at D-Day on Normandie and later captured by Nazis.

    Army Ranger D-Day. Part of the Rangers that the motto was born of. General Cota asked "what unit is this?', they yelled back "5th Army Rangers!", Cota replied, "Well goddam-it, Rangers lead the way ! ". Mr. Durning was caught in a minefield inland and was shot 4 times by an mg42. Recovered and fought in the Ardennes Offensive.
