Trailer for this Montreal-based film about a 17-year-old teen who thinks he's the reincarnation of Leon Trotsky. Jay Baruchel (Tropic Thunder) plays Leon Bronstein (which was Trotsky's given name), a privileged teen desperately trying to follow the life path of his radical namesake.

After organizing a strike at the small factory his father (Saul Rubinek) owns, Leon gets pulled from boarding school and sent to the local public school. Things start to fall into place for him when he meets an older woman named Alexandra (Emily Hampshire) and finds a cause worth fighting against in his new school's repressive administration (led by a menacing Colm Feore). However, inspiring revolutionary fervour in his lacklustre classmates proves challenging and Leon has to resort to extreme tactics.

Synopsis:
Leon Bronstein (Jay Baruchel) is not your average Montreal West high school student. For one thing, none of his peers can claim to be the reincarnation of early 20th century Soviet iconoclast and Red Army hero, Leon Trotsky. When his father (Saul Rubinek) sends Leon to public school as punishment for starting a hunger strike at Papas clothing factory, Leon quickly lends new meaning to the term student union, determined as he is to live out his pre-ordained destiny to the fullest and change the world.

Directed by Jacob Tierney
Cast: Baruchel .... Leon, Colm, Principal Berkhoff, Liane Balaban, Saul Rubinek

  • @dzgfdg I am sorry, that I interrupt, but Trotsky was defeinetively anything but a pacifist. He was a quiet harsh political leader and QUIET a hars militay commander, somethnig like Zhukov. But Zhukov did not decimate troops which retreated without an upstading order.

    Greetings from USSR.
