1988 - Birmingham Superprix - Aftermath of David Hunt's crash

On the first lap of the F3000 race at the Birmingham Superprix, at the Zenith Bend, Bertrand Gachot tapped Andy Wallace into a spin and collided. Other cars slowed down to avoid the melee.

But David Hunt's Lola was unsettled at the bumpy entry of the fast Loctite Turn and spun off. His car was launched into the air by a kerb and literally punched a hole into a wholesaler's shop wall!

Immediately, the race was red flagged. David Hunt walked away from the accident with minor concussion. But the Lola was in a bad way and you can actually see the damage of the wall!

This is the live aftermath footage of the accident. Sadly there is no footage of the accident at all.

He was physically fine after the accident and got concussion. He got no recollection of the accident.
