Set in the Sierra Leone Civil War in 1999, the film portrays a country torn apart by the struggle between government soldiers and brutal rebel forces.[1] The film portrays many of the atrocities including rebels cutting off people's hands to stop them from voting in upcoming elections.

Leo looks like a male lion. And Jennifer looks like a lioness. Is that a conscious esthetic choice by the director? I know a lot of actors use animals to "inhabit" their characters and to make a gracious interpretation. Hopkins emulated the characteristics of a crocodile in Hannibal Lecter while Jim Carrey emulated a parakeet in the Ace Ventura movies (colorful shirt, mohawke-like-hair, eating bird seeds, moving head back and forth+++). Lions would be a good choice for Africa, right?
