"We're Not Switching!"

Matt the Jetta TDI driver doesn't want to give up his Volkswagen even though the Hybrid driver is falling asleep at the wheel on this one tank of fuel to San Francisco challenge.

  • haha, I love how it says "the jetta tdi gets better mpg than this car". Some of these prius drivers need to get off their high horses and realize there are simplier ways of getting better mpg other than going hybrid!

  • And that will be fine because it will still be in warranty.

  • @asmiddleditch and in 5 years prius will need a 7 thousand dollar battery

  • Try this in town and the Prius will own the VW diesel on mpg's.

Also don't forget to factor in VW's reliability record. If you are buying second hand and you are out of warranty, repair costs could well overcome any marginal highway fuel economy advantage. Also, in many countries diesel is more expensive than petrol (gas).

  • @bababooey7384 You have one of the Touareg V10 TDIs too? Amazing SUV, enough torque to jumpstart a small planet.

  • Hybrid is a very good technology BUT nothings beat my Touareq properly tuned by AP Tunning at; 58.5MPG highway with 317HP !!!!!!!!!

  • the car is uncomfortable to drive and so is the seats. that Passat has rock hard German seats. this is FAKE AND GAY.

  • I think they forgot to tell you that the Prius only takes 8.5 gallons to fill the tank, while the jetta takes 14.5 gallons. The Prius does have an 11.5 gallon tank, but you will never put that much gas in it.

Wait... They didn't forget to tell you that.

Well I won't forget to tell you this.

    EPA, fueleconomy(dot)gov

New MPG (tests are more realistic) City/Hwy/Combined

    Prius 2010 - 51/48/50

    Prius 2004 - 48/45/46

    Jetta Tdi 2009 - 29/40/33

  • With the Jetta TDI, it's more like a car than a computer (Prius). The Prius, me not even driving it EVER, (and praying that I will never ever drive it in my lifetime) just looks like a box with a battery and a sucky engine. The Germans definitely own this competition, remember that Prius owners and once you are done paying for your Prius, go to the VW dealership and hope that you will find a Jetta TDI on the lot, so that when you are driving it (hopefully), you don't look embarrassing.
