There's different theories to the song's meaning. These are:-
1. wanting a sadistic lover (the one that I believe)
2. wanting a forbidden lover i.e. someone you love, but know is already in a relationship with someone else
3. a lover with AIDS
4. something that you love/like despite knowing that it's bad for you e.g. an alcoholic wanting the alcohol, a pothead wanting weed, a smoker wanting fags, a smackhead wanting heroin etc.
The only person who will know for sure however, is Cooper himself!
