Restoring a second Mac from hard drive image stored on another (the first) Mac. In this video I show you how to install an updated image stored on another Mac, connected via firewire cable. Be sure to connect both computers with a firewire cable. The first computer contains the source image (#1) , the computer to be updated is the destination (#2).
Boot the destination Mac holding down the "T" key (Target mode), in computer #1 the source, open disk utility, then select the destination disk, click erase, after erasing completes, then click "restore", point to the image on the source computer, then click "restore" to start the installation process.
After the image is completed, remember to go into the "share" system preference and change the name of the computer, as it will have the name of the original image. Watch the video for the steps how to do this.
Serves one updated computer in about one hour. Go to the sharing preferences and change the name of the computer, and create new user accounts as needed.
If you have an external hard drive , you can reimage the Mac by putting the source image on the external drive, then reboot the Mac with the original install DVD, go to the "disk utility" select "restore", point to the image source on the external hard drive and click restore. see video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIwZhfDep7o
