I thought I'd leave you with a video of Frank Gehry talking about the Walt Disney Concert Hall. This video comes from a really great documentary on Gehry by Sidney Pollack titled "Sketches of Frank Gehry". I have to say I somehow ended up a fan of Frank's work. I say somehow, because everywhere I travel to I end up seeing his architecture and it's kinda grown on me. I had an opportunity to meet him at a book signing recently and can assure you he's definitely a character. Pick up the DVD if you're interested in architecture. Even if you're not a Gehry fan, there's information in here not to be missed.

  • As an architect, we all talk crap about gehry's buildings at some point for being sculptures. Who cares if they are sculptures, they are unique and beatiful.

  • uno de los mejores arquitectos del mundo entero, mis respetos...

  • @waverly2468 Well, buying a CD obviously costs a lot less money than going to a concert, so it's not that they "prefer" to listen to it on a CD, they probably want to save money because after all, we ARE in a recession. Also, Salonen is the reason the LA Phil is one of, if not, the best US orchestra, so saying "his recordings with the LA Phil suck" (not to mention, only giving one example) means you must really dislike the LA Philharmonic, and would REALLY hate Dudamel.

  • @mario54671 Spending your time actually replying must be an even more exciting hobby.

  • Mario, I will admit that this ugly building has helped the LA Phil maintain its status as one of the few orchestras that are doing well financially. A new hall didn't work in Philadelphia--the concertgoers there hate Verizon Hall. The Philadelphia Orchestra filed for bankruptcy--I guess a lot of people prefer listening to their cd's instead of a live concert. lol And BTW Salonen's recordings with the LA Phil suck--there are too many blemishes in his recording of Bruckner's 4th symphony.

  • @Wiseguyzmoney Spending your time looking up videos of "bORING" pieces of architecture. Sounds like such an exciting hobby.

  • @waverly2468 I think people would rather hear an orchestra with their own ears rather than listen to it through some speakers. It amazes me how you managed to troll this video long after you posted your other comment. Your hobbies really do seem to be quite exciting...

  • @mario54671 I Agree with You 100% !!!!

  • yeah it was an awesome job to work on , if you think it looks intriguing now you should have seen it when we were building it

  • @IDareToSpeak no. architecture is not about being "unique and beatiful." these spaces are no good space. its trash and he, gehry knows he sucks.
