I thought I'd leave you with a video of Frank Gehry talking about the Walt Disney Concert Hall. This video comes from a really great documentary on Gehry by Sidney Pollack titled "Sketches of Frank Gehry". I have to say I somehow ended up a fan of Frank's work. I say somehow, because everywhere I travel to I end up seeing his architecture and it's kinda grown on me. I had an opportunity to meet him at a book signing recently and can assure you he's definitely a character. Pick up the DVD if you're interested in architecture. Even if you're not a Gehry fan, there's information in here not to be missed.

As an architect, we all talk crap about gehry's buildings at some point for being sculptures. Who cares if they are sculptures, they are unique and beatiful.
Apologists for Gehry assume incorrectly that his critics are motivated by envy. No, they just expect more from architecture than contrived, superficial clutter, no matter how well shilled by Sydney Pollack.
I'm not an apologist, in fact I don't think artists should apologize for their work. Some architects should, especially when when they design schools to mimic prisons.
I wonder if you've been inside a Gehry Building and know first hand what the space looks like? Some how I doubt it.
I sooo agree with gregfujita... I'm not a fan of Gehry's work at all, but the documentary (by Syndney Pollack) is terrific. That says a lot about a director's work, that he can get you completely absorbed into a subject who's buildings you don't even like : ) I've watched it many times and highly recommend it: "Sketches of Frank Gehry."
I really appreciate the numerous negative comments about this cramped, uncomfortable building. All of the architects who built this piece of junk should be forced to sit in one of their cramped seats during a really LONG piece, like the Mahler Symphony #5. This expensive building went way over budget and when donations were solicited, very few in the entertainment community came forward. When California really goes broke, we're going to wonder why we wasted money on boondoggles like this.
