ZHANG:
A couple of Hollywood heavyweights are in Tokyo today. Actress Angelina Jolie talks about her family life and career. She arrived in Japan earlier this week with Brad Pitt and their six children. Jolie is also interested in meeting Japanese mothers whose children have been abducted to North Korea.
STORY:
Hollywood's famous couple, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, along with their six children, are in Tokyo to promote their latest movies "Changeling" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button."
And they seem to be enjoying a lot of what Tokyo has to offer its visitors.
[Angelina Jolie, Actress]:
"It's wonderful. We had a great time. We have our children with us. We've gone to Kiddyland and the park, they're right now with their dad running around, so hopefully having a good time, I'm sure.
Running around with dad involved a second visit to a toy shop while mom was meeting the press.
[Angelina Jolie, Actress]:
"I have so many happy moments everyday with my children that it's hard to know, I think... Every time I return to them if I've had to work, every morning I wake up with them, especially these days they have jet lags, so we're all getting up very, very early in the morning and playing in the room.
Jolie and Pitt are both Academy Award Nominees, but they dont mention such things to their children.
[Angelina Jolie, Actress]:
"We are very grateful. And it's fun especially to be nominated together. It would be a good date night. But we don't tell the children ever about them. We don't really talk about our films. I think they think I only animate Kung Fu Panda and that's the extent of my career."
Jolie, who already boasts an Oscar, has been nominated for the best actress award for her performance in "Changeling" which was directed by Clint Eastwood.
In it, Jolie plays the character of Christine who confronts the Los Angeles Police
Department in the 1920s when they return a different child to her after the
child disappears one day.
As a mother of six, Jolie is empathetic to the Japanese mothers whose children have been allegedly kidnapped to North Korea.
[Angelina Jolie, Actress]:
"It has also been brought to my attention that there has been a situation with many Japanese mothers who've lost their children. They've been abducted to North Korea. It was brought to my attention. And I'd love to meet those mothers at some point. It sounds like they've been through an extraordinary difficult journey, and understand what's happened with their situation. It's new information to me, but it was quiet shocking.
The Japanese government acknowledges the disappearance of 16 nationals during the late 70s and early 80s, and the number could be as high as 70.
Changeling was an eye opener. Love Angelina, she's a beautiful human being. Bless her family.
