@tokyopun think what you must. But let me guess I doubt you looked up ATS, CITES or the UN charters? Yes I know Japan uses a legal loophole in the IWC, everyone knows that, heck even your PM said they are doing it not for research. The fact remains tho that the IWC does NOT disregard other international treaties and regulations. As much as people think it does it doesn't. Japan and all other countries must follow the treatys they signed up for. Still don't believe me? go look it up for yourself

@tokyopun seriously mate think about this issue more, ask yourself questions like why does not one country recognize Japans ICR whale populations numbers? not even other pro whaling counties do, why do you think that? and why do you think the Oriential Bluebird was charged for illegal mid sea refuelings, that was in the court of law and was proven illegal. There is no question about that fact, it was proven and ICR still continues to this day carrying out mid sea refuelings illegally.

The present state is better. The full-scale prohibition of the whaling is not necessary.

But do you know how many whales are left compared to figures before commercial whaling? 10% on average, yes 90% was wiped out. The moratorium was brought in to increase this number, yet japans whaling company is breaking this moratorium and destroying the ever declining populations.

Infact in 40 years of "research" Japan has only produced 4 creditable papers.... once again against IWC regulations.

@tokyopun then you got all the other environmental violations they make in the ATS including the illegal dumping of tons of whale waste into the waters. CITIES which is a international governed trade law which forbids all whale products. the UN world charter of nature and marine law. ICR also spits out all outdated population numbers which are all rejected. The Brazillian delegation replied at these fake numbers as "You cant expect us to believe this Japan, this is simply biological nonsense."

you should look into the issue more. There is alot to consider.First of all is the lies the Japanese whaling company puts out about research, they do not comply with IWC standards and have been criticized by the IWC scientific committee for their fraud.Not to mention other legal violations like Japans whaling fleet, like illegal refueling in the ATS.Their ship was deflaged because of it, yet they went and registered and disguised it as another ship. That is even further against international law
