If you haven't found an anvil yet and you're just looking for a cheap one for hobby use I recommend harbor freight. They have a 55lbs one for about $50. Alternatively you can get a 100lbs -200lbs anvil at a farm or ranch auction, but expect to pay $1 or $2 per pound.

like the forge too.i hammered out a couple rail spike knives last weekend at the tail end of making a couple mower bld knives and a file knife.those spikes like to have killed me.i found the spikes have to be real hot to pound.and that hammer u used with the metal handle looked painful.spikes can take a beating and not flatten much.it took courage for u to make that vid, especially pounding those tough rail spikes on that make shift anvil.congrats.keep the vid's coming.

I did the same thing but with a sledgehammer for the anvil, a lighter, hammer and a pair of pliers.
Hey Beast You have a new subscriber, Me. I saw your Rail spike knife in your swedish torch video and thought what a great idea! Now I'm thinking I'll have to make myself a brick forge to give it a try. I think I will give mine more of a chisle point and some kind of a bump for a guard. when I get my act together I'll post a vid. Might take a while, thanks for the inspiration.

Twist the handle, heat it up and stick it in the vice and twist, leave pommel the direction ya want. Good job, keep a eye on my channel i will be doing one soon and nails and arrow heads, it's fun isn't it?
