Britain's on the verge of a web-wide Big Brother - with internet and phone providers readying 'black boxes' to monitor private emails, social network chats and even calls. The legislation's still in debate, but the liberty alarm bells are already ringing over the government's hunger for a license to listen in. Jim Killock from the Open Rights Group says that, if passed, the law will put British people's sensitive information at risk from online fraud.

What's it really all about is....they just want to invade our privacy &
use "terrorism, etc.." as an excuse to do so....when they're so corrupt themselves.

Phil Zimmerman said, in 1992, you wouldn't send all your correspondence on the back of post card so why send unencrypted email. Encryption is just like using an envelope.
Well, today encryption won't save you I'm afraid. The government already has the power to demand you reveal your encryption key to them and can send you to jail if you refuse.
It CAN be done. It already IS being done. This just makes it LEGAL.

You're right they can't stop you from illegally downloading stuff just like they can't stop you from murdering someone. They can catch you, however. And then they decide what they are going to do with you.
Like Joel Tenenbaum, the student who illegally downloaded 30 songs and was fined $675,000 for it.
Oh, but that's in the US it won't happen like that over here? What about Richard Dwyer the student awaiting deportation to America for filesharing 'crimes'.

Its bad yes, but draw every piece of a good advantage out of it. 1. If enough people oppose it then waste the time of people monitoring your emails by puting certain words in the email. 2. We know theyre watching, only use techonology when you want to confuse i divert there attention to a different meeting place. 3. Come up with code. Theres ways round everything, im just happy that theyre announcing theyre doing this and people will start to believe all the so called "nutters" and become aware.
